Schieweschlauje (involving launching burning discs)
February 25 at 5 p.m. - rocher des Celtes in Dieffenthal
The Schieweschläuje – an event involving launching burning discs – is held every year the evening before the first Sunday of Lent on the heights of Dieffenthal.
An amazing show. At nightfall, at the Rocher des Celtes, wooden discs are heated until red in the fire then struck against a flat stone and hurled into the air using a flexible stick, creating artistic swirling patterns in the sky.
This originally Celtic tradition makes it possible to chase away winter and announces that spring is on its way.
