Commemorating the Battle of Scherwiller in 1525 - The day of the battle, and all the others
Departures: 10.30 am, 1.30 pm, 3.00 pm (places are limited)
The MJC theatre section will take you on a 3-stage journey through time:
On the morning of 20 May in the Year of Our Lord 1525, some of the children of Scherwiller get together to settle scores. Others hurried to join them. They had seen the Duke of Lorraine's huge column of soldiers approaching with great speed and noise, far away on the plain.
That same day, at 3pm, the Duke's soldiers finally landed near Ortenbourg. A moment of calm and laughter before the battle. A short rest, in the end, because the attack was imminent.
On 20 May 2025, four young people from Scherwiller celebrate their reunion and spring in the vineyards. They soon realise that they are not alone. Shadows and travellers from the past beckon them and invite themselves to the party. The journey ends with a historical presentation of the events from a site overlooking the battlefield.
Confrérie des Rieslinger - Special chapter with inductions at 4.15pm
Throughout the day, the following will be present:
The castles associations Sentinelles de l'Ortenbourg and Veilleurs du Ramstein
The Lothringen Landsknecht (re-enactment of a troupe of lansquenets)
The group GøLJAN, who will provide medieval musical entertainment
A fabric screen-printing workshop and games for children by EmmaCulture
