The Grand Cru Praelatenberg

The viewpoints of the majestic Haut-Koenigsbourg castle dominate the steep slopes of the Praelatenberg. This rich terroir gives rise to full-bodied, fleshy wines, founded on a foundation of intense minerality.

The Praelatenberg is characterised by the combination of its micro-climate and the gneiss component of the terroir. The latter gives the wines a crystalline and elegant minerality, whatever the grape variety. However, this minerality is particularly noticeable in the Riesling, while the Gewurztraminer has spicy notes and the Pinot Gris is very fresh.
 
The Praelatenberg appears to be a balanced and very regular wine, hardly marked by the imprint of the vintages. It is one of the 51 grands crus of the Alsace vineyard.
