Fortified and erected as an imperial city in the 13th century, Sélestat had a rich history.
Fortified by its ramparts and protected by the great bailiffs, the city extended its authority over the villages of Burnert, Kinsheim and Kümigsheim, gifts of the emperor in the 14th century, as well as over the abbey of Andlau in 1534.
With Sandrine Rueff, project manager of Sélestat, Ville d'Art et d'Histoire.
