Through her account of her sexual and intimate life, Eugénie Poilue examines the oppression of women's bodies by patriarchy and how it has taken over women's enjoyment of life. After experiencing sexual abuse as a child, Eugénie recounts how this abuse had a direct impact on the construction of her sexual life, which she began to undergo as a woman object. From being a woman-object, her life journey has led her to question herself, to heal from trauma, to become a woman-subject today and to learn to enjoy life and be happy. Eugénie also explores the issues of submission and alienation of women in a society ruled by phallocracy and capitalism, which inhibits our relationship to pleasure and enjoyment.
