The “Scherwiller” label of origin
Geology: The silty soil on the banks of the Giessen and Aubach streams contains a high proportion of shingle. A product of this gravelly soil, the distinctive feature of the Scherwiller Riesling is a variety of aromas ranging from very fresh and lemony to Muscat-like in flavour.
Only wines produced from the Riesling grape variety may lay claim to the Alsace label of origin, followed by the Scherwiller designation, officialised on the 28th of October 2011.
