Présentation

The FRAC Alsace is dedicating part of its exhibition space to a new area aimed at highlighting an artist from its collection, notably by exhibiting acquired works and presenting the artist's current activities in the region and beyond to the public.

The first artist invited is Élise Grenois. Born in 1992, a graduate of HEAR, and based in Strasbourg, FRAC Alsace acquired two of her works from the ‘cristallisations’ series in 2021 and 2023 respectively.

Drawing on her knowledge of materials and techniques, Élise Grenois gives birth to forms with a new materiality. Her work on the states of matter transforms the original logic of bodies and objects into paradoxical presences.

The artist gives permanence to the ephemeral nature of life and to the intermediate stages of sculptural work.

In light of Elmar Trenkwalder's works and preparatory studies presented in the exhibition ‘Mysteries of Fusion,’ Élise Grenois also invites viewers to discover the behind-the-scenes of her production in the form of a generative tree structure that reveals the connections between her sculptures. These invisible links, usually reserved for the intimate space of the studio, are revealed and explained during the exhibition.
