A selection of works from the collections of the 3 FRACs of the Grand Est region, in collaboration with students in the master's programme Écritures Critiques et Curatoriales de l'Art et des cultures visuelles at the University of Strasbourg - Judith Butler Promotion.
‘What does it mean to be, if not to be with, to be together, to be me, to be you? These questions take the form of an invitation to stop, listen, look and imagine. A sensitive, shared exploration of experiences, identities and places where people seek, find and transform themselves. Aux lieux d'être takes us on a diversion in which the works of sixteen artists - visual artists, video artists, photographers and sculptors - offer alternatives to the narratives that structure and influence our perceptions of the Other. They conjure up spaces of freedom in which the margins become the centre, where being is reinvented.’
With works by : Eleftherios Amilitos, Dara Birnbaum, Hannah Black, Anna Blessmann, Valentine Cotte, Frédéric Coupet, Gina Folly, Fabien Giraud, Gérard Gotscho, Mehryl Levisse, Teresa Margolles, Ewa Partum, Tracey Rose, Peter Saville, Lara Schnitger, Estelle Schweigert, Joëlle Tuerlinckx, Michele Zaza.
Opening: Friday 14 March at 6pm.
