The Peasants' War in Alsace - An essential or marginal event in our regional history and identity?

This peasant revolt, whose half-thousandth anniversary is being commemorated in the spring of 2025, left its mark on people's minds. Was it a simple peasant uprising or a revolution that was forgotten, betrayed, recuperated and sometimes even exalted? Was it a marginal element in the history of Alsace, relegated to the dustbin of history by the Thirty Years' War barely a century later, or was it a key moment in the history of Alsace and in the construction of our identity?
