Baltzenheim celebrates its liberation! Throughout the weekend, the village will host various events across the municipality to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation. On the programme: -> Saturday from 2pm: - Installation of an American military camp by The Lost Company association - Tour of the village: Visit to the US and German camps and a bunker occupied by the ‘Les Français de 40’ association: - Demonstration of firing period weapons, field kitchen, transmission post, medical care for soldiers, mine clearance - At 5pm in the village hall: Screening of the film ‘Les Filles de l'Escadron Bleu’ followed by a presentation of personal effects that belonged to the women of the Blue Squadron - 6.30pm: Liberation dance hosted by a DJ with food available in the school courtyard (period costumes welcome) -> Sunday from 10.30am: - 10.30am Official commemoration and wreath laying at the memorial square - Installation of an American military camp by the association The Lost Company - Tour of the village: Visit to the US and German camps and a bunker occupied by the association ‘Les Français de 40’ (The French of 1940): - Demonstration of firing period weapons, field kitchen, transmission post, medical care for soldiers, mine clearance - At 12 noon, catering provided by the firefighters' association - Exhibition of vehicles from the liberation and a 1940 Flécher coach built in Colmar - At 5 pm in the village hall: Screening of the film "Les Fille
