Come celebrate International Peace Day at the Schweitzer Centre!

Enjoy activities and guided tours of the centre. 

This place draws on the peace work of Albert Schweitzer, Nobel Peace Prize winner born in Kaysersberg, to show that peace is everyone's business.

A major figure of the 20th century and a pioneer of humanitarian medicine, Albert Schweitzer fought for peace and respect for life in a way that resonates today more than ever. To pay tribute to him, promote his work and raise awareness of his life, the town has renovated the museum dedicated to him. 

Thanks to its layout and immersive technologies, the Schweitzer Centre offers visitors a real experience based on the founding principles of our society: freedom, tolerance and mutual respect. At the end of the visit, everyone, young and old alike, can reflect on their own capacity to take action, at their own level, for peace.

During the two days: 

• Urban interpretation trail - Albert Schweitzer, a perspective for our times: Enjoy a guided city tour! Your guide will be waiting for you in front of the Schweitzer Centre! They will show you the twelve totems that mark the urban circuit ‘Albert Schweitzer, a perspective for our times’. The climb to the castle is possible if the weather is favourable and the group is in good physical condition.

          20 and 21 September at 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

• In the footsteps of Albert Schweitzer: Let yourself be guided in the footsteps of Albert Schweitzer: from his childhood in Alsace to his commitment to peace and respect for life, from his incredible African adventure in Lambaréné (Gabon) to winning the Nobel Peace Prize in 1952. Other actions taken by various personalities in favour of world peace will also be presented.

          20 and 21 September at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.

• The Alsatian house, a real kit! During a workshop, discover, experiment and leave with your own little Alsatian house.
• Temporary exhibition: 500 years of history at the Schweitzer Centre.
