It's an original lottery organised by CAKCIS, the Sélestat canoeing and kayaking club. The plastic ducks are placed in the water upstream of the Sélestat slalom basin, which they will paddle down. Each duck has a number and is sponsored by people who can win around a hundred prizes.
In addition to the duck release at 6.30pm, the CAKCIS will be offering entertainment for the general public all afternoon from 3pm.
A quarter of the proceeds from the event will go towards developing our Pink Ladies section. Its aim is to help women who have undergone breast cancer surgery in their rehabilitation. Canoeing is an ideal sport for rehabilitating pectoral muscles. The section was launched in 2016.
