Every era has its little dances and buffoonish antics! Two farces by Molière for one evening, a comic hyperbole of two annoyingly eternal trends: abstract, dogmatic knowledge that seeks to dictate ‘right thinking’ and the unwritten rules of society's appearance! Molière drew all the comic potential from the pedantic verbiage of the marquises and the pompous gibberish of the doctors! Today, as in the 17th century, the little marquises dance but with different shoes... and the dramatic effect of black coats has become the authority of white coats.
