Resurgence by Sophie and Laurent Weigel: cyanotype reproductions of photographic images.
‘The Kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed into the earth: whether he sleeps or stands, night or day, the seed sprouts and grows, he knows not how’ (Mk 4, 26-27).
In the depths of the earth lies the flower bulb. At first sight, it seems inert, a mere rough husk buried beneath the ground. Yet within it lies an unsuspected power: that of rebirth. After passing through winter, the season of rest and apparent death, it awakens with the arrival of spring. In a burst of vitality, it spreads its first shoots, then rises, bearing colours and fragrances. Each flowering is a victory over oblivion, a promise kept by nature that, even after retreat and shadow, light and life will always triumph. This perpetual cycle makes the bulb a universal symbol of renewal. It recalls ancient myths of resurrection and is in tune with the great beliefs that celebrate the return to life. In gardens and fields, it embodies hope, perseverance and the ability to transform after adversity. In this way, the flowering bulb teaches us a valuable lesson: rebirth is not a sudden miracle, but the fruit of silent patience, of a hidden force preparing to blossom at the right moment.
