Recital by Christian OTT, titular organist at St Louis Cathedral in Versailles, renowned for his virtuosity and musical sensitivity.
A graduate of the Conservatoires of Forbach, Strasbourg (in the class of André Stricker) and Paris, and winner of several international organ competitions, C. Ott divides his time between teaching and giving solo and chamber music recitals in France and abroad, on organ, harpsichord or art harmonium. For his visit to Ebersmunster, the co-owner of the historic Grand Orgue (Clicquot/Cavaillé-Coll) in the Cathedral of Saint Louis in Versailles offers us a journey back in time: the spectacular Toccata octava by Georg Muffat (1653-1704) , an elegant Suite française by Clérambault, Couperin, Marchand and other Baroque masters, including Celestin Harst, who was a monk here, and two subtle variations on Vater Unser by Böhm (1661-1733 ). You will also hear the famous Partita on Sei gegrüsset, Jesu gütig by J.S. Bach (1685-1750 ). In conclusion, three charming pieces by Alfred Lefébure-Wély (1817-1869) will brighten up this musical afternoon.
A rare moment on the sumptuous Silbermann organ in the abbey church!
