Présentation

Selestat keeps the oldest written mention of the Christmas tree. Discovered in a register of accounts of the city of Selestat, the mention indicates that on 21 December 1521, a payment of 4 schillings was made to the forest rangers to monitor the communal forest on Saint Thomas' Day, the day on which firs were traditionally cut. In an original presentation, discover the mention of 1521 as well as two more recent ones. The opportunity to visit the Humanist Library rehabilitated by the architect Rudy Ricciotti.
