Heritage Days - The Kagenfels Castle
Présentation
The Kagenfels is a medieval fortification located about 15 km from Obernai, in the Mont Sainte-Odile massif. Since 2000, the association Art et Patrimoine d'Obernai, has opened a volunteer workcamp, which has made it possible to carry out archaeological excavations and to save the ruin thanks to consolidation and reconstruction work (such as that of one of the entrance doors to the castle dating from the 16th century). The castle has been owned by the City of Obernai since 1563, which has been accompanying and helping this voluntary work with material support since the beginning in 2000. Come and discover this impressive work site!
A guided tour every hour by the volunteers of the building site. Bring walking shoes.
