L'histoire énigmatique de la cave à pommes de terre
L'histoire énigmatique de la cave à pommes de terre
Présentation
Immerse yourself in the discreet but essential history of the Kartoffelkeller - literally, the potato cellar - an underground space built between June 1943 and summer 1944 by a Kommando of around 80 deportees, mainly French Nacht und Nebel (political opposition) prisoners.
Carved into the mountainside, this logistical cellar bears witness to the daily operation of the camp and the organized exploitation of prisoners. It lies beneath the current building of the European Center for Deported Resistance Members, inaugurated in 2005.
On this guided tour, discover an area usually closed to the public. Accompanied by a guide, you'll explore this almost pristine site and understand its role in the Nazi concentration camp world.
