This square was laid out in 1985 in a district that began to emerge in the second half of the 19th century but developed mainly between 1870 and 1918 with the massive construction of buildings for workers. It was built on industrial and residential wastelands. It is one of the two squares in the district, in the form of an enclosed public garden organised around a large meadow, the crossing of which links the rue des Pyrénées to the rue Neppert. It is home to beautiful tulip trees, catalpas, redwoods and Judas trees.
