The Steinbach park

Présentation

A green corner in the heart of Mulhouse, the Steinbach Park is the ideal place to go for a walk, rest, picnic or to let off steam on the playground for the youngest.
It is located on land between the old city ditches. In 1798, the manufacturer Blech, owner of the Vetter house, now the Fine Arts Museum, acquired the land and filled in part of the ditches to create a garden that extended as far as the Rue du Sauvage. The area was gradually reduced in size by the construction of various buildings, such as the theatre, and by the filling in of the Sinne ditch. G. Steinbach bought the house and gardens, which were bequeathed to the town on his death in 1893. The garden, which included production greenhouses, became public.
