Set between the colonnades of the Place de la Bourse, this 4,677 m² square offers rich floral decorations and the shade of venerable trees, including a 175-year-old plane tree. This triangular square is one of the oldest in Mulhouse. It was created during the construction of the New Quarter in 1826. At that time, the garden belonged to the owners of the buildings bordering the square; it was about one metre below street level and was surrounded by wooden fences. It was later filled in and enclosed by a fence. In 1925 it was leased by the city for 99 years and developed into a public garden.
