Description

A mansion? Yes and no! Yes, because it is an urban residence aimed to accommodate important persons. No, because those persons weren’t Bourgeois, but Benedictine monks. As he had enough of seeing his abbey plundered in Ebersmunster, the abbot decided to build a safe shelter, protected by the town’s ramparts. Built in first place to ensure safety, the building was also used at the same time as a big corn loft.
