Description

St. Georges, so close to St. Foy: strange isn’t it? It is indeed quite unusual to find two churches built with about a century apart but situated at only 100 meters distance from one another. After some investigations, here the reason: the quest for power, already! The bourgeois of the town had the will to build a bigger, higher and more modern church than its neighbour. The monks of St. Foy got the message right and understood the bourgeois were about to overtake the power in town. The construction began in 1220, but the church is achieved only in 1490 with the raising of its flamboyant style Tower. 288 glass panels set up the sumptuous church windows. Chagall signed one of them.
