BL514 - Rhineland humanism and craftwork in the Ried
Présentation
Between Strasbourg and Colmar, the Grand Ried is ideal for exploring by bike. The term Ried is derived from the Alemannic "Rieth" meaning reed. By extension, "Ried" applies to landscapes of flooded meadows and lush forests.
Explore this land of natural riches and preserved environments: the Ill Wald reserve with its herd of wild deer, the Maison de la Nature in Muttersholtz and its barefoot trail... Take a break to do some shopping with Ehnwihr's artisans: pottery, weathervanes... before heading for Sélestat, city of the illustrious Beatus Rhenanus, which was for a long time a major center of Rhenish Humanism, as evidenced by the prestigious Humanist Library, currently the subject of a vast restoration project.
