Christmas concert: 30th anniversary of the Sélestat Chamber Orchestra

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Chamber Orchestra, Bruno Soucaille commissioned an original work, created especially for the occasion by Hubert Dennefeld, composer, conductor and violinist living in the Ried region. The idea was to incorporate traditional Christmas music into the piece. Hubert Dennefeld therefore collected Christmas tunes from across Europe to create several scenes, which he named ‘Itinérances’ (Journeys). He gave this music very evocative titles: the caravan in the desert, in the streets of Bethlehem, in the stars, childhood memories... melodies around the nativity and the festive atmosphere to appeal to the audience's imagination. To accompany this work, other instruments are invited to join in: clarinet, bassoon and some percussion.
