The Kugelhopf can be sweetened, with raisins soaked in rum or kirsch and almonds and usually sprinkled with powdered sugar before serving. It can also be served as an aperitif in a savory version, with bacon and nuts, accompanied by a glass of white wine or Crémant d'Alsace.
