The ENGEL Estate, founded in 1958, now covers an area of 21 hectares, including 13 hectares on the slopes of Praelatenberg, classified as Grand Cru in 1992. The vineyard has been farmed organically since 2014, producing wines with a distinctive character.
Since then, the estate has continued on its path and today the next generation is ready to take over: Pierre & Jacques Engel represent the fourth generation of this family-run wine estate. Although mindful of the work of their predecessors, one of the main objectives of these passionate brothers is to highlight the terroirs: the vintages are thus becoming more distinctive and denser.
The 2022 vintage is Demeter-certified, a choice aimed at rediscovering the natural expression of this beautiful terroir located in the commune of Orschwiller, which is also the former stronghold of the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg.
