The Schoenau motte-and-bailey, surrounded by a moat (once filled with water) which is still visible today, is around ten metres high with a diameter of 50 metres at its base. At its summit, one of the first medieval lowland castles made of earth and wood was built here. Shards of pottery and ceramics discovered here bear witness to the site's great age.
