Présentation

The National Wolschwiller Biological Reserve is a veritable outdoor laboratory at the heart of the Alsatian Jura. With remote limestone cliffs, rare species and stunning views of beautiful countryside, this 67-hectare nature reserve reveals its splendours to the delight of the senses.
Within it, a Scots pine which is at least 200 years old stands on a steep cliff overlooking the village of Wolschwiller. Clinging directly to the rock, this twisted pine that looks like a Bonsai tree has remained unchanged within living memory.
Beneath the cliff is a cave which is said to have housed the village priest who was opposed to the German occupiers from 1914-1918. Be careful, this is an unsafe site so stay away from the edge!
