The most traditional of Alsatian cakes!

The Alsatian Kugelhopf is a tasty brioche with leavened dough, whose appearance is characteristic because of its mold, which gives it a high, fluted shape and hollowed in the middle.

The Kugelhopf can be sweetened, with raisins soaked in rum or kirsch and almonds and usually sprinkled with powdered sugar before serving. It can also be served as an aperitif in a savory version, with bacon and nuts, accompanied by a glass of white wine or Crémant d'Alsace.
