Tumuli

Some 500m west of the village, on the meadows bordering the forest of Ill, stands out a large group of tumulus. On either side of the path leading from Mussig to the Stoll Mill, these places are evocatively named Ried, Flaschland and Obere-Nachtweide. The most remarkable mounds are located in a bucolic spot to the north of the path, between the Ill dam and the Brücklisgraben, a thin trickle of water bordered by alder trees. On the spot, you will discover circular mounds whose height varies between 0.30m and 1.80m and whose diameter varies between 10 and 30m. These are mounds erected during the early Iron Age (750 to 450 BC).
