Probably built around the middle of the 13th century by the lords of Geroldseck.
The little Geroldseck was a fief of the bishopric of Metz from which the lordship of Marmoutier came.
It already existed in 1235 when "two lands of Gerolsec" are mentioned: in the first half of the 14th century.
It is called the new Geroldseck. It seems to have been abandoned very early. Probably as early as the 15th century.
