Présentation

Created in 2003 by the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Strasbourg Philharmonic Choir is an amateur choir of excellence. Cosmopolitan and intergenerational, it brings together ninety choristers aged between 20 and 75, from four continents and seventeen different nationalities, supervised by a team of professionals, singing teacher and pianists, under the direction of conductor Catherine Bolzinger.

For its visit to Ebersmunster, the choristers, soloists and musicians will be performing Gabriel Fauré's Requiem Mass in D minor Op. 48 for two soloists (baritone and soprano), mixed choir, orchestra and organ. Written at the height of the composer's maturity, it is one of his best-known works, considered to be one of his masterpieces and one of the most beautiful Requiems of the 19th century.

The choir is accompanied by the Kammerensemble Kehl-Strasbourg "Au pont de l'Europe", an orchestra made up of amateur and professional musicians from both banks of the Rhine, conducted by Gabriel Mattei.
