Commonly called “ The Witches’ Tower”, it is the former low gate (Niedertor) which opens through the fi rst wall of fortifi cations (1216) on to Strasburg. The lancet arch passage was blocked, the upper fl oor was used as prison especially in the XVIIth century for witches before their execution. The ground-fl oor was used as storage for rammed earth and war equipment In 1774.
