Built in 1615 by Hans Billex, the house “Zum kleinen Giessen” - the small Giessen - (named after a former river) - was later urchased by Jean de Sainct-Lô, a war Commissioner whose grand-son Ignace created the masterpiece of the pulpit in Sainte Foy church. Louis XIV was accommodated here before he received the Mayor’ of Strasburg tributes and his act of submission. The House Billex was built on the remnants of an old building and is the last renaissance building in Sélestat.
